Is Pain or Injury keeping you from the active life you deserve?

If you’ve found your way to this page, it’s likely that you have some sort of injury, pain or movement limitation.

Perhaps you’ve had a hard time deciding on exactly what to try first?

Or maybe you’ve already tried various treatments but you’re still in pain?

Many of our patients find us after their physician told them “you just need to rest,” but rest alone wasn’t the answer and every time they tried to be active again, the pain would return.

Many have been given pain pills and muscle relaxers but don’t want to become dependent on them and understand that pain killers don’t address the root cause of their pain.

Some have tried physical therapy before but were at a clinic where they just repeated a bunch of exercises they could do on their own time, and their PT rushed from one patient to the next- rarely using any hands-on manual therapy or spending much one-on-one time with them

Some have even had surgery that didn’t solve their problem, and occasionally made them even worse.

Does any of the above sound like your current situation?…

Dr. Michelle Perry

Doctor of Physical Therapy, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT, COMT

As a young girl, I wanted to be an optometrist. I played “eye doctor” with my siblings, kept medical charts of them, and looked into their eyeballs  at least twice each month.  I pursued my dream of becoming an optometrist, graduated college and was heading into Optometry school.

One day, I was in a terrible car accident that resulted in my inability to be able to walk, sit or stand. My life was forever changed.

I was in terrible pain and attended physical therapy as a result. My physical therapist ended up being my biggest blessing. He was a highly specialized manual therapist; had the ability to get me out of pain in a matter of weeks and then challenge my body in such a way where I was able to resume walking and functioning again.

Although my journey through physical therapy was challenging, it was transformational.

It changed the trajectory of my life and I made a decision to become a highly specialized Doctor of Physical Therapy in order to drastically impact the lives of my patients and their family members.

Hey there! I’m Dr. Michelle. I am the founder and owner of Abide Physical Therapy.

I graduated from the University of Minnesota with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy and began my career working in sports medicine and skilled nursing facilities. As a result of my desire to help individuals return to above optimal standards, I decided to become specialized in orthopedics and manual therapy. After a couple years of practicing, I completed OPTIM Manual Therapy’s Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapy program (COMT) and soon after obtained my Board Certification as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS).

AREAS OF EXPERTISE

As a medical professional, I have achieved an elite level of education as I am a recognized Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic and Manual Physical Therapists.

Abide Physical Therapy specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of athletes ranging from pediatrics to adulthood.

MY PHILOSOPHY

I value education and ensuring that my patients are adequately informed on their limitations. All patients are provided with tools to regain their optimal function.

Our bodies are designed to move.

I am committed to improving the lives of my patients through utilizing movement.

Throughout each session, the focus will be centered on functional movement, corrective exercise, joint movement therapy combined with soft tissue and nervous system regeneration.

When I am not treating patients, I enjoy teaching physical therapy students! I love hiking, reading, powerlifting, participating in martial arts, and spending time with my family and friends.
