BACK PAIN
Back pain is one of the most debilitating conditions most individuals experience at least once in their lifetime. Back pain limits one’s ability to complete simple tasks around the home or work.
It’s important to know that the majority of back pain can be resolved free of medication or surgical intervention. We specialize in manual therapy and highly skilled treatment techniques tailored to addressing any back dysfunction. Current research shows that incorporating manual therapy with exercise is the most effective approach to the treatment of back pain.
Why does my back hurt?
Low back problems are sometimes caused by an accident or trauma, but most often the pain is a result of:
- Poor posture
- Declining physical fitness and remaining sedentary, thus reducing muscle strength and endurance
- Repetitive and incorrect lifting, bending and twisting patterns
Many experience back pain resolving on its own over time, however, nearly 90% of people who experience back pain can expect to have another episode of pain at some point in the future. This is because the root cause of the episode hasn’t been addressed. At Abide, we are committed to treating the underlying movement dysfunction and not solely your symptoms.
How will Abide Physical Therapy help?
A thorough lumbar examination will illuminate how your spine moves. Hands-on manual therapy is often used to correct painful spinal movement. Coaching is then provided to target specific muscles to “wake up.”
