it band / thigh / hip pain
The IT (Iliotibial) Band is a band starting from the hip and traveling to the side of the knee. Sometimes it can cause thigh or knee pain. The IT band can be sometimes tight and cause overuse of the area and underuse of the muscles that should be “turning on” instead.
How does it feel?
Hip pain may cause you to experience:
- Stiffness or deep aching pain in the front or side of the hip
- Sharp, stabbing pain when standing up from a chair, squatting, rising from a squat, running, “cutting,” jumping, twisting, pivoting, or making lateral motions
- Pain that increases with prolonged sitting or forward leaning
How will Abide Physical Therapy help?
Abide Physical Therapy will evaluate the movement of the hip and surrounding joints, and test the strength of the muscles in that area. Abide may also perform special tests to help determine whether the hip is the source of your symptoms. To treat hip pain, Abide Physical Therapy prescribes treatment techniques to provide a balance to muscles around the hip.
Abide will give you the tools to establish the reason for the problematic leg with the utilization of both manual therapy and efficient exercises. We will help you run, jump, play sports and return back to doing whatever it is that you would like to do.
