SHOULDER PAIN
The shoulder is the most complex joint in the body. As a result, there are a multitude of diagnoses for shoulder pain and problems. The following outlines a diagnosis that almost half of the population will struggle with at some point in their lifetime.
The rotator cuff is a group of 4 muscles that contribute to stability within the shoulder joint. Unfortunately, injuries to the rotator cuff are fairly common, either from an acute event or repeated overuse of the shoulder. When left untreated, this injury can cause severe pain and a decrease in the ability to use the arm.
What might I experience with a shoulder injury?
- Pain over the top of the shoulder or down the outside of the arm
- Shoulder weakness
- Decreased shoulder mobility
Sometimes shoulder pain can make the following simple tasks challenging: lifting the arm to reach high shelves, wash behind your back, pull out a wallet, or fastening a bra.
